Here is a list of restaurants we tried (and some of them many times) not far from Villa Golden. But there are lots of other places for you to discover.

LIGHTHOUSE HOTEL in Galle: Spectacular setting right at the ocean. Sri Lankan and Western food. Buffet twice a week, sometimes with Kandy dancers show.

RED LOBSTER in Hikkaduwa: Casual and noisy but really nice. The best jumbo prawns! Also other seafood ands lots of other dishes, Sri Lankan and Western.

WIJAYA in Unawatuna: A meeting place for expats. Great pizza’s. Fusion cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Right at the beach.

AMANGALLA in Galle Fort: Splendid old hotel, classy and luxurious. A must see. Sri Lankan dishes with a contemporary twist. Also nice just to have a cocktail, a beer or tea/coffee.

THE BUNGALOW in Galle Fort: Trendy and stylish. Fine cuisine. Butter Chicken is our favorite dish here.

KINGFISHER in Unawatuna: Excellent cocktails and music at the bar on the beach. Dining with your feet in the sand. Fusion cuisine, heavenly tuna steak. Laid back atmosphere.

INDIAN HUT in Galle Fort: Traditional Indian dishes, casual style. No alcoholic beverages as the owner is muslim. Also take out. (ask our staff to make a phone call)

LADY ON THE HILL in Galle: Food is quite good, and the restaurant is set in a small tower. Not at the beach, but lovely. Go there before sunset, or maybe for lunch, so you can enjoy the view.

THE SUN HOUSE in Galle (very close to Lady On The Hill): Perfect if you like the lush atmosphere of British colonial times. Fancy, tastefully decorated place with a spacious courtyard.

PEDDLAR’S INN in Galle Fort: Very cosy, quaint and authentic place. Really worth a visit. No alcoholic beverages. Ideal for lunch or just tea or coffee. Or ask for their refreshing lemon drink: delicious.

REFRESH in Hikkaduwa: You can have a table street side or ocean side. This is more of a tourist restaurant, but good food . Try one of their surprising ‘sizzling’ dishes.
